Done watching BTOOOM! [ ブトゥーム! ] series not too long ago, the series actually aired on Fall 2012 under Madhouse Studio with its 12 eps in total and "bomb war" as the main story. Yes it's about the people who forcefully dragged into an island for killing each other using bomb as the only weapon, unless you think that self-defense using one's own body counts as a weapon. 【Download the theme songs here ♪♩♫♬】 |
But wait!, it's not just a simple game about bombing each other in the first place. The dirty business behind all of this revealed when the main character, Ryouta Sakamoto dragged into a deserted island. He realized a pouch of 8 bombs timer type added to his belongings and a gem planted on his left hand out of the blue. The rules is simple, collect 8 gem and the helicopter will come to pick you up which means you need to stop other hearts from its beating permanently for the sake of collecting the gems, in short, kill people you meet in the island. The truth begins to burst; their real life now depends on their desire and skill to survive.
The plot is not a freshly-baked in anime industry. Well you must be named few other similar series with the same theme fluently. The main idea itself is not something I'm surprised about, but the progress of its story is well-done. (Still it's unique for its boom). I like how the story slowly turns into a magnificent dark sense, and (somewhat) gore scenes to satisfy my interest. Mostly other series will edit it to reduce the terror of blood such as make it blur with black tint or other methods (I really hate this one), or even cut the scenes so it can progress to the next scene. We can find even slightly, the gore feelings here and that's what the anime maintain I guess.
That aspect I stated above also related to my enjoyment as a whole in visual aspect. Aside from the gore scenes presented, the effect is good too. Well; for me the character designs feel a bit blowzy (maybe because it's quite seinen so the details are not the matter:) I don't know why but I have a feeling the core of enjoyment are the bombs and everyone's strategy. The bombs are vary (I like it lol) and the tactics aren't just a childish game which is easy to guess.
The OP song here is absolutely the BTOOOM! series charm, sung by nano "No Pain, No Game" is rock n' roll! It seems the last ep, ep 12, is quite special because the OP song is changed still sung by Nano "Exist". And The ED song is sadly not supporting enough "Aozora (アオゾラ)" by May'n.
For the enjoyment throughout the show plus the songs, and other aspects related,
I decide to give the series rate 8.
Pros;
- OP songs & Insert Songs
- The enjoyment
- Strategy & those thrilling bombs
Cons;
- Average design characters
- Each characters aren't too developed
