How all of this-hard-to-imagine-game works? ➽ The humans get their consciousness but without memories after arrived in Quindecim instantly after their death moments. Instead of sending to the owner brains, the memories store to Arbiter by information bureau as the basic knowledge for placing judgments later. By order the freshly-died-humans-without-memories to play the game, Arbiter soon can choose who will deserve to be resurrected again (go to Heaven) and will be sent to Hell (becomes a void). The deadly game freaks out the humans and inhumanely makes them remember their memories and last moments, also their true nature, as a good or bad persons in life.
The rules of Arbiters. One: Arbiters cannot quit making judgments for that is the reason why they exist. Two: Arbiters cannot experience death for that would bring them too close to being human. Three: Arbiters cannot feel emotions for they are dummies. |
"Just because judging humans may give rise to difficulties doesn't mean it's right to pass any random judgment on them. There's no way this world can be right the way it now is." -Nona- |
Honestly I haven't been served by this kind of idea, Arbiters to judge humans, the center of story itself is the Arbiters. From their point of view and understanding as Arbiters in order to determine who will go to Heaven or Hell, we can get a slight comprehension of, mainly, being judged and judgments. Looking at the object of this show which is the dead humans and its deeds, it's also need deep thoughts about the meaning of life differently from each person, not just specify the deeds to its rate as bad or good one.
The implementation of judgments thus far based solely from the Arbiters perspective which leads to unfairness for main heroine who doesn't have a name that recruited by Decim to accompany him in the judgment session. Since she participates in the Quindecim, there are so many new things for Decim to learn, as a non-human being Decim starts to think about how he judges may lead to miscalculating. The psychological stuff which brings uncertainty to your mind appears around few last eps, it was damn thrilling and many scars revealed even affects the Arbiters itself who are not humans to begin with. As for the early 'til mid, the show was relaxing and sometimes even pumped curiousness.
The character development is nice and that's how I like the show ('til I watched it to the end when I was place the show on my dropped list before lol). As I said from the plot itself the show is nicely pushing through our curiousness and mind to not just enjoy the whole of it but also put deep thoughts about human feelings and how to judge the deeds they do. By passing through all of the uneasiness, unfairness, anything in judgment session, the characters (Arbiters), slowly but sure comes to questioning about the judgments and human. The show is presented about this kind of philosophy in the characterization.
The OP song is somewhat unique for its catchy, bring delightful mood around but somehow makes me the OP is not fit nicely with the show because of its you-can-dance rhythm while the show is so dark lol. The OP song is sung by BRADIO, titled "Flyers" and the ED theme is much slower and melodious "Last Theater" by NoisyCell.
I give the show rate 8+. I really like the story oh my, it's good and unpredictable, many perspectives of how value someone's life, someone's point of view, and someone's well-being.
Pros:
- Unique story and characterization
- Nice animation
