These two aired together in SUMMER 2016 for the continuation of DANGANRONPA series before ((Danganronpa: Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei The Animation)). Since I'm not fond of game, I can't relate how similar or match it is with the game version. Or I don't even know about Danganronpa other versions/series as well. Here we go.

"It might be confusing to get two similar anime series (actually from the same game but different background), in a season", that was what I thought. Both of these released in SUMMER 2016, with a few days difference in release date. After watching the 1st and 2nd episode of both of the series, somehow I can relate well. The analyses show intercorrelations between the two series. Shortly, both of it are the sequel of Danganronpa: Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei The Animation. DANGANRONPA 3: Mirai-Hen sets after the Danganronpa, and DANGANRONPA 3: Zetsubou-Hen tells the (hidden) story and also flashback about the event before Danganronpa and DANGANRONPA 3: Mirai-Hen.
DANGANRONPA 3: Mirai-Hen In this point of time, humanity state is in critical point. The world is in danger by the doer who destroys the humanity. The doer / destoryers are "Super High School-Level Despairs" (in which the explanation of them is in the DANGANRONPA 3: Zetsubou-Hen series). The chaos is undeniable. The world is suffering from the doing of 'em. The commotion starts to freak out the normal human without gift like Super High School-Level blahblah.... Future Foundation is built with the purpose to fight those High-Schoolers / destroyers. The Future Foundation members are recruited from the Hope's Peak graduates. The gifted people should fight the gifted too. Then, that's how the story starts... another killing game begins, this time, will be the last. The Remnants of Despair (Super High School-Level Despairs) and Monokuma infiltrates Future Foundation's base and oblige them to kill each other in order to survive. They are forced to play the killing game, the same with the first season. They must kill others and flee from the judgment to be alive. Once again, the Monokuma makes an appearance again in front of Naegi's and comrades very face. ---╮ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ╭---╮ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ╭---╮ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) ╭ No difference can be found from my point of view—this series and the previous Danganronpa series. Even if the context is more critical such as the last war between hope and despair in which their survival (Future Foundation's members) is a gambling for the continuation of the whole world, the feel is just not there. Can't find deeper characterization of them. The story seems like it's been refined in a rush. It's said in the beginning about how vital the hope is in the time being, but in the middle there are so many unnecessary events there, like we need to waste time for forming the same perspective about hope itself to fight in the name of it. The characterization comes from the concept of hope as said above. A few characters divinize their own perspective of hope. Their fights and arguments, mostly, good-for-nothing, "where's your concern for chaos that drives humanity crazy out there dude?". Why don't you just fucking brainstorm yourself together to find any solution because you're bunch of people who's left to save the world. That's what I thought internally. While some of the main characters fighting for their ideal hope meaning, the others busy themselves by saving their lives. What a.......mess?! The visualization saved me enough. Altho' not superb that I thought it could be better if the darker theme of the story isn't affected its graphic, but I enjoyed it. The scenes always be so damn dark, troubling my sight and made it looked like less interesting sometimes. All of the colours and facial expresion becomes more dull than it should be. Opening Theme for DANGANRONPA 3: Mirai-Hen is "DEAD OR LIE" by Maon Kurosaki feat. TRUSTRICK (LINK) and the ending theme "Recall THE END" by TRUSTRICK (LINK). Both of theme Mirai-Hen theme songs are good, but not impressive. I like other TRUSTRICK works than the OP. I like Zetsubou-Hen way much better than Mirai-Hen, based on the way I enjoyed the anime. Well, around 6. How about you? Pro & Cons:
[minutiae] Kazuo Tengan, Branch Office 1 Director (Former Director of Hope's Peak High School). The rules of killing game mentioned by Monokuma to the member of Future Foundation: Rule #1 The Time Limit: The members are planted a bangle with timer in their left wrist. When the time (on the bangle) is up, they will be injected with sleeping drug from the bangle. Rule #2 The Attacker: Someone will wake up in the "sleep time", given time limit, and got chance to kill someone. If time limit is up, nobody is dead, that time it means victory. Rule #3 Forbidden Actions: Doing an action that mentioned in the bangle cause you to die by injected poison from the bangle. If the bangle is tried to rip off, the poison, too, will be injected. | DANGANRONPA 3: Zetsubou-Hen Whilst Mirai-Hen is focusing on the war between hope (Future Foundation) and despair (Remnants of Despair) ahead of the time of Zetsubou-Hen for another future, Zetsubou-Hen explains about how everything starts. Zetsubou-Hen series gives us information about Mirai-Hen series (Future Foundation found and origination of Remnants of Despair) and hints or clues of "hope" and "despair" which are the theme of these series. It's just my preference, but I suggest you to watch Zetsubou-Hen and Mirai-Hen altogether. Some of you may have thought to watch Zetsubou-Hen first because the background of this series happens earlier and the beginning of everything. But watching it alongside Mirai-Hen, will not be disadvantaging because you can have your understanding clearer from Zetsubou-Hen and surprising truths that happens in Mirai-Hen. All of it connected but no need to watch Zetsubou-Hen in the first hand. It's just my hyphotesis, but I do believe, because of the correlation and its ups-and-down, is the reason why the series release together. --- ʅฺ(。・ω・)ʃฺ--- ʅฺ(。・ω・)ʃฺ--- ʅฺ(。・ω・)ʃฺ It isn't as simple as I thought anyway. This series is far more complicated and devastating. It begins two months after the entrance ceremony back in the past. Yukizome is assigned to be an assistant homeroom teacher of 77th class. This young Yukizome version in Zetsubou-Hen enjoys her time to teach in this 77th class. She even falls for the gifted students and love them all. Later she got in trouble with her student's doing and both of them got punishment. Yukizome who's sent to teach in regular class as punishment found the dirty secrets of Hope's Peak High School. It must be advantaging for her because the only reason she signed there just to find out concealed things in Hope's Peak. She has been looking for it since she applies as a teacher. I enjoyed myself more watching Zetsubou-Hen because of the ups-and-downs. More characters here making the series gets more emotional even if just a tiny bit, like they are being close and starts to get friendly, but should bear sudden turnover and huge secret that could change the human race. [SPOILER] You will find the antagonist in the 1st season in this series, this series is the bridge between Mirai-hen and the 1st season. Characters are more diverse. The plot has more development than Mirai-Hen and that's also the reason why Zetsubou-Hen has more character improvement than another one. Eventhough the essence of this one is not located in the killing point, still the death of characters occur here. The visualization is well-prepared, more entertaining. It's brighter, using a lot of neon colouring (maybe because there is still happy scenes and moments), nice background too. The splattering blood, however, the same with other sequel, is purple coloured, and it made me irritated everytime lol Should I consider buying the BD version, errr? DANGANRONPA 3: Zetsubou-Hen opening theme is "Kami-iro Awase (カミイロアワセ)" by Binaria (LINK) and the ending theme is "Zettai Kibou Birthday (絶対希望バースデー)" by Megumi Ogata (LINK). I like both of these and listed on my playlist, especially the ED theme. It has more aura to take place for the theme songs. I do feel that the seiyuus fit right here. This one feels more into something complete story than other DANGANRONPA series which are killing game based. It starts with explanation, continues with surprising facts, and packed with a bit of emotion. 8 I guess. Pros:
